If you want to know what's happening on our college campuses (or if you will "campi") these days, this article on Colorado University is an excellent primer. The school, known for being very left-wing and employing the likes of Ward Churchill is thinking about endowing a chair that would be called "Professor of Conservative Thought and Policy." Not since Dian Fossey went to study the gorillas has scholars been so brave as to delve into the "oddity" that is conservatism. I think David Horowitz has it right:
While he approves of efforts to bolster a conservative presence on campus, Mr. Horowitz fears that setting up a token right-winger as The Conservative at Boulder will brand the person as a curiosity, like "an animal in the zoo." We "fully expect this person to be integrated into the fabric of life on campus," replies Todd Gleeson, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences.
Naturally, the students and faculty are up in arms over the idea and demanding the right to veto it. One student gives their views quite astutely (notice the wording):
Sophomore Marissa Malouff sees the campus as a sort of re-education camp. Sheltered rich kids from out-of-state might come for the snowboarding, but while they’re here they get dunked in a simmering pot of left-wing idealism. And that, in her view, is how it should be.
"They need to learn about social problems and poverty and the type of things liberal professors are likely to talk about," says Ms. Malouff, a Democrat.
There you have it, but the article waits until the very end to show us that the plan is itself a rouse.
In fact, Mr. Peterson said it’s not imperative that the new professor of conservative thought be an actual conservative.
"We hire lots of scholars of the French language," he says, "and they aren't necessarily French."
Okay, the Daily Kos has only been around a few years, but anti-Semitism has been around for many moons. There was once a day when those on the so-called "right wing" were the anti-Semites, but no longer. The Left has a near total monopoly on Jew hatred. It astonishes me that any Jew in America can vote for the Democrats (sans the self-hating Jews).
Al Gore was quick to blame mankind for the cyclone that killed tens of thousands in Myanmar, but the real man-made disaster is the country's government...if you can call it that. It's a military junta that keeps the people in poverty. If the U.N. was a worthy organization it would be amassing an army right now and preparing to invade the country and take the junta out. Why do we sit around and give legitimacy to a government that doesn't even try very hard to hide the fact that it's a totalitarian dictatorship that makes life miserable for its people? Sovereignty? Please. Any country that enslaves its people is not "sovereign."
I really have to give Bill Clinton credit. Even though everything that comes out of his mouth is a lie, he knows how to handle hecklers. It pains me when I see other politicians get heckled and they just give a goofy smile and try to continue on like nothing is happening. Who advises them to do this? Bill Clinton at least shows some passion.
Classic. There's a story floating around that movie mogul Harvey Weinstein, one of Hillary's biggest supporters for years, has told Nancy Pelosi to have a revote in Florida and Michigan or he'll cut off campaign money to Congressional Democrats. I sure hope this is true.
The man who should have been president had some harsh words for the Democrat Nominee and his woeful ignorance on the American legal system. This is a really scary election.
Thousands of people are dead in Myanmar (or, if you will, Burma) and Al Gore can't wait to take the opportunity to say the cyclone was caused by Global Warming. This man is scum.
Right now it looks like Hillary wins Indiana while Obama will win North Carolina, though there still could be a bit of the ol' Bradley Effect in the North Carolina exit polls...we'll see.
Regardless, it means the contest will continue, though from everything I'm seeing the media is doing its damnedest to make people believe that this is the end of Hillary. I wish I could enjoy the Hillary bashing, but the alternative is just as scary.
The Mighty Hitch delves into Michelle Obama's Princeton University Thesis where she praises Stokely Carmichael and his anti-American views. With the Obama's in the White House, will it be Bill and Hillary all over again? Sure looks like it.
Apparently, the new James Bond film is getting a reputation not seen since "Poltergeist." So far, three people who have worked on the film have been involved in serious "mishaps," leading some to believe the film is cursed. Nonsense, but interesting nonetheless.
A victim of the Weather Underground talks about the relationship of William Ayers and Barack Obama. Personally, I'd like to hear from Tom Wolfe on this story.
What I find interesting about this is that it happened over 15 years ago, but only now has it come out. Imagine it, for 15 years you get a free pass from the MSM, then the media falls in love with a new messiah and all of the sudden we're supposed to pay attention to the bad things past and present.
MORE: There's some debate over whether Carville and Stephanopoulous are agreeing with Kantor or not. They remain silent and the body language to me suggest they would just like Kantor to shut up. I have no doubt, however, that they do agree with him. Voters are mere chattel to the Democrats. It raises a bigger point that I doubt McCain has the smarts to target: the Democrats, whether it be Obama's camp or Hillary's camp, have utter contempt for a majority of the American people. They talk of championing the little guy, but the fact of the matter is they hate the little guy. The little guy to them is a stupid, religious, gun-owning dupe whose only value to them is his vote. If I were an advisor to John McCain, I would hammer this message into the campaign so hard you'd see the welts for miles.
UPDATE: Hold the phone! The director of "The War Room" D.A. Pennebaker says the tape has been doctored. If true, should Obama "disown" the alleged culprit?
